Product Overview

REFURBISHED Vacuum Desoldering Station ZD985

This temperature controlled desoldering station makes desoldering of through-hole parts a breeze. Simply place the heated tip of the gun over the pin to be de-soldered, wait for the solder to melt, then press the trigger. This will activate the vacuum pump in the station to suck the melted solder through the hollow tip into a waste reservoir and leave the component's leg and PCB free of solder. It only takes a few seconds per pin.

If you've ever tried to de-solder parts using wick or a manual vacuum pump, you know how difficult that is, particularly on a double-sided board. You will NOT have these problems using our desoldering station, because it sucks the solder from both sides of the board, leaving the hole and component leg virtually free of solder.

The station has a dual LCD display, showing the desired temperature and the actual temperature. The display can be switched from Fahrenheit to Celsius if, and the desired temperature can be dialed-in using the up/down buttons. An illuminated power on/off switch is also located on the front.

The side of the station features a typical holder, with sponge.

Two lines (power and vacuum, both can be disconnected) connect the station to the gun. There is a filter at the station-side of the vacuum connector, and another filter in the gun itself.

The package comes with the following items:

1.) Temperature Controlled Station, with AC Power Cord (ZD-985)
2.) Vacuum Desoldering Gun (80-552B)
3.) Three tips with different sized holes (0.8mm = N5-2, 1mm = N5-1, 1.3mm = N5-3)
4.) Three cleaning rods (these are used to clean the hole in the tips when necessary)
5.) Spare Filters
6.) AC Cord

WARRANTY
We provide a 6 months parts and labor warranty (consumables like tips, filters and heating element are excluded). This warranty is provided by Memotronics here in the USA, we do not simply refer you to the manufacturer.

SPARE PARTS & CONSUMABLES:
Spare parts and consumables (such as additional tips, filters, cleaning rods, heater elements) are available separately or in the SOLACC552 accessory kit. REFURBISHED UNIT:
This unit has been professionally refurbished by us. The units either had damaged packaging, are customer returns or are units that were DOA and have been repaired by us. Generally, you will not be able to distinguish the unit from a new one. In most cases we will have replaced the entire gun assembly, including the vacuum hose and cord. We are so confident in our work that we provide the same 6 month warranty on parts and labor as the new units.

    Absolutely Great

I have been using the refurbished ZS 985 Desoldering Station for about two years now so this will be a long term review. The station that I have has had daily use with zero problems. I originally purchased it with an extra gun in case of problems. I also ordered 2 extra heater elements and 4 more of the glass/spring/seal kits. I was well prepared.

The main control unit has had plenty of heavy hard use without any problems. I have used both guns
changing out 1 for the other when the collection glass became full and I still needed to work. I have gone through a lot of filters and they are readily available at Memotronics. When I received the Unit I could not tell it from a new unit, it looked and functioned that good. I do believe the unit came with new desoldering guns.

I have heard some complaints about getting clogs deep in the nozzle tube. That can happen but there is a very quick fix. Turn the temperature up to as high as it will go and insert the largest cleaning rod that came with the station into the nozzle of the desoldering gun just about one inch for about 10 seconds (be very careful because the metal rod will get extremely hot) and then push the rod in and down against the solder plug . Do this 1 or 2 times and the cleaning rod will act like a little soldering iron and push the clog right through into the clear chamber. This unit is still going strong and for the price it is one of the best purchases that I have made for my very humble shop. )funny, this is one of the few things that has actually gone down in price since my purchase), At this price it is an excellent Vacuum Desoldering Station, and if it is still the same one I purchased (seems to be identical) you will be very happy.
